Relocating to London

London, Ontario is known as the Forest City, yet it has so much more to offer its inhabitants than trees! Certainly it is one of the most beautiful cities in Ontario, if not the entire country. Perhaps it is time to finally stick the 'for sale' sign in the lawn of the home your family outgrew years ago and move to London Ontario. What awaits you is a peaceful and welcoming community, and a city full of interesting history and diversity.

Unlike other major city centers, London has that small town feel that citizens find very comforting. Londoners see their friends as neighbors and their neighbors as friends, and the friendly atmosphere of the city can be felt from the outskirts to the lovely downtown core. There are many historically significant spots in London, and the downtown area houses many of these: The century old Grand Theatre, which has headlined such amazing actors as W.C. Fields, Sarah Bernhardt, Sidney Poitier, Jessica Tandy, Sandra Oh and Leonard Nimoy! With new shows every season (and for every budget) the Grand Theatre remains at the theatrical heart of the city, and is just one example of the city's flourishing theatre scene, a community that seems to grow every season.

Another historical landmark of the city is its university, The University of Western Ontario, established in 1878, is one of the oldest universities in Canada. Offering over 200 different degree and diploma programs, it is not hard to see why this is the destination of choice for many of today's young scholars. The campus boasts beautiful gardens and green areas set between the limestone buildings that look like they have been transplanted from London England! Students are in a great location, close to shopping and all amenities, and a short bus ride from the happening downtown.

Downtown also boasts the ancient Convent Garden Market, established in 1845. This market is unlike any other, and remains one of the city's most popular cultural landmarks. With it's original farmer's market feel still intact, shoppers can cruise around to the different booths and compare prices on fresh locally grown produce, the best selection of organic meats and cheeses in the city, delicious baked goods and treats, and a vast array of ethnic foods. Aside from the gastronomic pleasures offered at the market, there is an amazing variety of fresh flowers and bouquets, handmade children's clothing shops, an art gallery on the upper level, and the market is the home of the Original Kids Theatre Company, ( and houses their permanent performance hall. Clearly the arts are alive and well in this blossoming city.
